July 12-14, 2024 year EPSAYA public union implemented 3-day theoretical-practical conference in the field of “Increasing divorce in young families as a problem in society” with the financial support (9000 manat) of the Agency for State Support to Non-Governmental Organizations of the Azerbaijan Republic for the 25 young participants from the 15 regions (Agjabadi, Agsu, Baku, Bilasuvar, Jalilabad, Lachin, Lerik, Lankaran, Masalli, Sabirabad, Sumgait, Shaki, Shirvan, Shamkir, Yardimli) of Azerbaijan in “Lux Lankaran” Hotel, Lankaran city. 13 girls and 12 boys have participated in the theoretical-practical conference. It should be noted that before the theoretical-practical conference 49 young applicants (24 girls and 25 boys) from 26 different regions of Azerbaijan (Absheron, Agjabadi, Agsu, Astara, Baku, Bilasuvar, Jabrayil, Jalilabad, Khachmaz, Khanlar, Imishli, Ismailli, Kalbajar, Lachin, Lerik, Lankaran, Masalli, Mingachevir, Sabirabad, Sumgait, Shamakhi, Shaki, Shamkir, Shirvan, Tovuz, Yardimli) have applied to the organization for the participation in the event. Besides the staff of the organization Mrs. Konul Manafova, the deputy chief of Lankaran-Astara Regional Youth and Sport Department and Mr. Ziya Ismayilov, the head of Jalilabad Regional Centre of the Ombudsman Apparatus, as a guest, and Mr. Zaur Gasimov, mediator and barrister of Lankaran District Advocate Bureau, and Mr. Farrukh Aliyev, the psychologist of Astara District Central Hospital Public Legal Entity, as an expert have participated in the theoretical-practical conference, shared their knowledge and experiences with the youth and answered the questions of the participants. During the theoretical-practical conference the staff and the participants discussed a lot of themes in the field of divorces and domestic violence – “Family institution in Azerbaijan, traditions, classical and modern family values, Concepts of marriage, right to marry and marriage contract, Issues of distribution of property and ownership acquired during joint marriage and alimony obligations, Early marriages, their causes and social consequences, Marriages and divorces in Azerbaijan: current situation and available statistics, Domestic violence, its forms and measures to combat them, Responsibility against domestic violence – national legislation and Istanbul Convention, Data bank – The State Committee for Family, Women and Children Affairs, The concept of family, morals and ethics, Children in the family and society, bullying and discrimination against children, Violence against children – UN Convention on the Rights of the Child, Public condemnation, public participation and its forms, Public control, public debates and public hearings”. During the theoretical-practical conference the staff used different methods, such as presentations, brain storming, focus group discussions, interactive group works, energizers, mutual exchange of ideas with participants and experts as well as watching to the different social videos related to the topics throughout the entire session. At the end of the theoretical-practical conference the relevant presentations have been presented to all participants. In the end the participants and the staff, as well as the guests and the experts gave their views on the project and thanked to the donor – the Agency for State Support to Non-Governmental Organizations of the Azerbaijan Republic for implementing such kind of actual project for the youth. It should be noted that the project’s goal has consisted of organizing countrywide enlightenment and awareness of youth and young families with the aim of strengthening the public fight against increasing divorces and domestic violence in Azerbaijan.
