August 10-12, 2018 year EPSAYA public union implemented the training courses in frame of “Organizing of prophylactic measures among the public against domestic violence” with the financial support (5000 AZN) of the Council of State Support to Non-Governmental Organizations under the President of the Azerbaijan Republic for the 25 young participants from the 18 regions (Baku, Barda, Jalilabad, Fuzuli, Ganja, Goranboy, Goychay, Imishli, Lerik, Masally, Oghuz, Saatly, Sumgait, Shabran, Tovuz, Yardimly, Yevlakh, Zangilan) of Azerbaijan in AB Qala Hotel (“Lankaran Inn” Open Joint-stock Company), Lankaran city. 13 boys and 12 girls have participated in the training courses. It should be noted that before the training courses 83 young applicants (46 boys and 37 girls) from 37 different regions of Azerbaijan (Absheron, Aghjabadi, Aghdam, Aghstafa, Astara, Baku, Balakan, Barda, Bilasuvar, Jalilabad, Dashkasan, Fuzuli, Ganja, Goranboy, Goychay, Imishli, Kalbajar, Gabala, Lerik, Lankaran, Masally, Nakhchivan, Oghuz, Saatly, Sabirabad, Siyazan, Sumgait, Shabran, Shaki, Shamkir, Tovuz, Ujar, Yardimly, Yevlakh, Zagatala, Zangilan, Zardab) have applied to the organization for the participation in the training courses. Besides the staff of the organization Mr. Elbay Fataliyev, the head deputy of Lankaran city Youth and Sport Department in the guest sort, and Mr. Ziya Ismayilov, the head of Jalilabad Regional Centre of the Ombudsman Apparatus in the expert sort, and also Mr. Ehtiram Fattayev, advocate and the member of the Bar Association of the Republic of Azerbaijan in the trainer sort have participated in the training courses, shared their knowledge and experiences with the youth and answered the questions of the participants. During the training courses the staff and the participants discussed a lot of themes in the field of domestic violence and struggle with it – “What is domestic violence? Who are victims of domestic violence? The statistical data of the UN and the Council of Europe on domestic violence, The current statistics on domestic violence in Azerbaijan – deaths and suicides due to violence against women in families and their analysis, The statistics of the State Committee on Family, Women and Children Affairs on violence against women and their analysis, The statistics of crime on the basis of family-household conflicts and their analysis, Domestic violence that occurs in the household and investigation of its causes, Domestic violence that occurs in the household and evaluation of its complications, Domestic violence that occurs in the household and discussion of ways of its solution, Protection means of the persons exposed to domestic violence, Determining responsibility in the action of a person who has committed domestic violence and the application of the law, Methods of ensuring the rights of the persons exposed to domestic violence, Domestic violence and fighting with it: national and international experience, Mechanisms of enlightenment and awareness campaigns against the problem of legal illiteracy in the field of combating domestic violence and its forms, The role and place of relevant agencies and NGOs in combating domestic violence in Azerbaijan”. During the training courses the staff used different training methods like interactive group discussions, debates, simulations, presentations, focus group discussions, role-playing games and energizers as well as watching to the different social videos related to the topics throughout the entire session. At the end of the training courses certificates and corresponding materials (relevant presentations and social videos) in the field of domestic violence and struggle with it have been presented to all participants. In the end the participants and the staff, as well as the guests and experts gave their views on the project and thanked to the donor – the Council of State Support to Non-Governmental Organizations under the President of the Azerbaijan Republic for implementing such kind of actual project for the youth.
