On November 5 of the current year “Education” Public Support Association of Youth of Azerbaijan (EPSAYA) public union implemented a half-day training course in connection with the project “Environmental enlightenment of the youth of the region within the framework of “COP29” and “The green world solidarity year”” for 20 young people in Masalli city with the financial support (7500 manat) of the Ministry of Youth and Sport of the Azerbaijan Republic. 20 young people aged 16-29, 17 girls and 3 boys have participated in the training course in Masalli region. Besides the staff of the organization Mr. Oktay Agayev, senior advisor for Masalli region of Lankaran-Astara Regional Youth and Sport Department and Mr. Ziya Ismayilov, the head of the South Regional Centre of the Ombudsman Apparatus, as a guest, and Mr. Samir Salayev, a teacher and PhD of Lankaran State University, as a trainer-expert have participated in the training course, shared their knowledge and experiences with the youth and answered the questions of the participants. During the training course the staff and the participants discussed a lot of themes in the field of COP29, the green world and other environmental issues – “Ecology and ecological system (ecosystem), Natural resources, their types, alternative energy sources and utilization of the environment, Environmental problems and their solutions, Waste and their management, Environmental policy: COP29 and the green world solidarity year” as well as watching to the different social videos related to the topics throughout the entire session. During the training course the staff used different interactive methods, such as presentations, brain storming, focus group discussions, interactive group works, energizers, mutual exchange of ideas with participants and experts. All participants were presented with relevant certificates and related flyers in the end of the training course. In the end the participants and the staff, as well as the guests and the experts gave their views on the project and thanked to the donor – the Ministry of Youth and Sport of the Azerbaijan Republic for implementing such kind of actual project for the local youth. It should be noted that the aim of the 3-month project covering the dates of September 15 – December 15, 2024 is to increase environmental knowledge and experience of the youth and promotion of “COP29” and “The green world solidarity year” among local youth in connection with the development of environmental consciousness, environmental education and environmental culture.
