January 05-07, 2024 year EPSAYA public union implemented 3-day theoretical-practical conference in frame of “Prophylactic measures on the consequences of early marriages and consanguineous marriages” with the financial support (8500 manat) of the Youth Foundation of the Azerbaijan Republic for the 25 young participants from the 16 regions (Baku, Barda, Jabrayil, Goranboy, Goygol, Khachmaz, Ismayilli, Kurdamir, Gabala, Guba, Lankaran, Masalli, Nakhchivan, Neftchala, Shamkir, Tartar) of Azerbaijan in “Lux Lankaran” Hotel, Lankaran city. 7 boys and 18 girls have participated in the theoretical-practical conference. It should be noted that before the theoretical-practical conference 104 young applicants (36 boys and 68 girls) from 36 different regions of Azerbaijan (Absheron, Agjabadi, Agdam, Agstafa, Astara, Baku, Barda, Bilasuvar, Jabrayil, Fuzuli, Ganja, Goranboy, Goygol, Khachmaz, Ismailli, Kurdamir, Gazakh, Gabala, Gobustan, Guba, Lachin, Lerik, Lankaran, Masalli, Mingachevir, Nakhchivan, Neftchala, Oguz, Salyan, Sumgait, Shamakhi, Shamkir, Tartar, Tovuz, Yardimli, Yevlakh) have applied to the organization for the participation in the event. Besides the staff of the organization Mrs. Konul Manafova, the deputy chief of Lankaran-Astara Regional Youth and Sport Department, Mr. Ziya Ismayilov, the head of the South Regional Centre of the Ombudsman Apparatus, as a guest, and Mr. Zaur Gasimov, mediator and barrister of Lankaran District Advocate Bureau as an expert have participated in the theoretical-practical conference, shared their knowledge and experiences with the youth and answered the questions of the participants. During the theoretical-practical conference the staff and the participants discussed a lot of themes in the field of early marriages and consanguineous marriages – “General information about early marriages: Analysis of official data of the UN Population Fund and the State Statistics Committee, Causes of occurrence of early marriages and social consequences of early marriage, Early marriage of girls and the main legal problems of children born out of wedlock, Cases of truancy of children born out of early marriage – violation of the right to education and the main social problems of children born out of wedlock – exploitation of child labor, Classical and modern family values in Azerbaijan, Consanguineous marriage and the traditions that give way it, Forced marriage of minor girls, as well as responsibility for forcing a woman into marriage, Early marriages that lead problem of domestic violence and responsibility against domestic violence, Recognition of the fact of paternity and the right of residence of the mother in cases of early marriage violations, issues of distribution of property and ownership acquired during joint marriage and alimony obligations, Marriages and divorces in Azerbaijan: current situation and statistics, Data bank - The State Committee for Family, Women and Children Affairs of Azerbaijan Republic, Ways to prevent early marriages, consanguineous marriages, as well as maternal and child deaths and divorces in the society, Involvement of girls in education, not allowing the marriage of minors and ways to raise awareness about reproductive health”. During the theoretical-practical conference the staff used different methods like presentations, brain storming, focus group discussions, interactive group works, debates and energizers, as well as watching to the different social videos related to the topics throughout the entire session. At the end of the theoretical-practical conference the relevant presentations have been presented to all participants. In the end the participants and the staff, as well as the guests and the experts gave their views on the project and thanked to the donor – the Youth Foundation of the Azerbaijan Republic for implementing such kind of actual project for the youth. It should be noted that the project’s goal is to organize countrywide enlightenment and awareness of youth and young families within the framework of prophylactic measures on the consequences of early marriages and consanguineous marriages in Azerbaijan.
